IPPT Test and Traffic Light

Hooray!!!! I took my IPPT today and I actually passed it!! Hahaha. I did not expect myself to be able to pass it. I went for the test because I do want to be charged by them. All NSmen are supposed to take their IPPT once a year. Failure to do so will result in them being charged and there will be a fine of $50. The window starts from the day after their birthday and ends on the day before their next birthday. As my birthday is coming soon, hence, I have to take the test quickly.

I went to Maju Camp, next to the SIM University, to take the test. My parents drove me there. The first word that I hear when I alight from the camp was the fuck word. One guy was complaining to another guy about something. Haha..this is so expected. I made my way into the camp; however, I had to surrender my camera phone to the guards before I was allowed entry.

Met a couple of friends inside and so we took the test together. I did quite well for the static stations, but then again, I was never worried about the static stations. The killer station, for me, is always the 2.4km run.

As there are quite a lot of people, about 100 plus I guess, we were divided into 3 batches. I was inside the 2nd batch. The first batch ran first and many guys actually vomited after they completed the run. Haha.. Most likely they haven’t run for a long time and they tried too hard, therefore, their bodies cannot take it. When it was my turn to run, I was pretty nervous. But I just get on with it. It was courage, faith, endurance and a dogged determination to surmount all obstacles that helped me complete the run. I ran and I passed. Okay it’s no big deal, but I am still very happy with it. Haha =)

I beat the traffic light a few days ago when I was going home. I was about to reach home when a taxi suddenly came out of a small road and cut into my lane. The most irritating thing was that the taxi was damn slow. I actually wanted to overtake it but I chose not to because I need to stay in that lane to do a right turn. We were quite close to the junction and I figured that if I overtake him there and then, I will not have enough time to get back to that lane. Having no choice, I followed slowly behind. The worst thing was that the traffic light in front of us had been green for a long while and the damn taxi was still taking its own sweet time to get to the junction. When we finally got to the junction, the traffic light was already amber and was about to turn red. The taxi made a dash for it and I followed suit. Suddenly, there were bouts of flashes. I got caught by the freaking camera!!! I was told that the camera flashes are as bright as sunlight. It will light up the entire street. How true it is. It was damn stupid of me to follow the taxi. But sigh…what’s done cannot be undone. The penalty for beating the red light is $200 and 12 demerit points.

I took a cab home after the test. Feeling bored, I ended up chatting with the cab driver. So I was asking him whether he has ever been caught for beating the red light. Haha…he said, “Yes!!”

He was caught by the traffic police for beating the red light and was given the demerit points on the spot. But he went to the police station at Ubi to appeal. It took them 9 months to get back to him but they actually reduced the fine to $150 and the demerit points to 9 points. He said that the most important that I have to do is that admit that I am in the wrong. Then after that, I need to come up with some really pitiful stories to make them feel sorry for me e.g. my mum was sick and I was rushing home to send her to the hospital. Haha…seriously, I am thinking of doing that. But I will have to wait till I receive the letter from the police first. =P
