Insomnia

I have been trying to sleep for the last 2 hours. Finally gave up and thats why I am here writing this freaking entry at this freaking hour. Can't think of anything else to do. Sigh..

Actually...I have always had this insomnia problem, just that its getting worse in recent days. Been waking up in the middle of the night for the past few nights. Many reasons - nightmares, mosquitoes and my sis next door. I have always been a light sleeper. I wake up at the slightest sound and after I wake up, its very hard for me to get back to sleep. I think I have only slept for about 4-5 hours for the past few days. Sighhh...seriously I think I am wasting away. I really really wish I can have a good night sleep... just one night....Sigh.....

Colour Quiz!!

Existing Situation

Having difficulty making progress and unwilling to put forth further effort. Seeking more comfortable conditions where he can avoid anything disturbing.

Stress Sources

An existing situation or relationship is unsatisfactory, but he feels unable to improve it without willing cooperation. Unwilling to expose his vulnerability and therefore considers it inadvisable to display affection or to be over-demonstrative. He regards the relationship as a depressing tie but, although he wants to be independent and unhampered, he does not want to risk losing anything. All this leads him to react touchily and with impatience, while the urge to 'get away from it all' results in considerable restlessness. The ability to concentrate may suffer.

Restrained Characteristics

Feels he is receiving less than his share, but that he will have to conform and make the best of his situation.

Desired Objective

Wants interesting and exciting things to happen. Able to make himself well-liked by his obvious interest and by the very openness of his charm. Over-imaginative and given to fantasy or day-dreaming.

Actual Problem

Seeks to avoid criticism and to prevent restriction of his freedom to act, and to decide for himself by the exercise of great personal charm in his dealings with others.

Actual Problem #2

Anxiety and a restless dissatisfaction, either with circumstances or with unfulfilled emotional requirements, have produced considerable stress. He tries to escape into an idealized atmosphere of sympathy and understanding, or into a substitute environment of estheticism and beauty.

Hmmm quite accurate though not all. Feel free to take the test at www.colorquiz.com.

IPPT Test and Traffic Light

Hooray!!!! I took my IPPT today and I actually passed it!! Hahaha. I did not expect myself to be able to pass it. I went for the test because I do want to be charged by them. All NSmen are supposed to take their IPPT once a year. Failure to do so will result in them being charged and there will be a fine of $50. The window starts from the day after their birthday and ends on the day before their next birthday. As my birthday is coming soon, hence, I have to take the test quickly.

I went to Maju Camp, next to the SIM University, to take the test. My parents drove me there. The first word that I hear when I alight from the camp was the fuck word. One guy was complaining to another guy about something. Haha..this is so expected. I made my way into the camp; however, I had to surrender my camera phone to the guards before I was allowed entry.

Met a couple of friends inside and so we took the test together. I did quite well for the static stations, but then again, I was never worried about the static stations. The killer station, for me, is always the 2.4km run.

As there are quite a lot of people, about 100 plus I guess, we were divided into 3 batches. I was inside the 2nd batch. The first batch ran first and many guys actually vomited after they completed the run. Haha.. Most likely they haven’t run for a long time and they tried too hard, therefore, their bodies cannot take it. When it was my turn to run, I was pretty nervous. But I just get on with it. It was courage, faith, endurance and a dogged determination to surmount all obstacles that helped me complete the run. I ran and I passed. Okay it’s no big deal, but I am still very happy with it. Haha =)

I beat the traffic light a few days ago when I was going home. I was about to reach home when a taxi suddenly came out of a small road and cut into my lane. The most irritating thing was that the taxi was damn slow. I actually wanted to overtake it but I chose not to because I need to stay in that lane to do a right turn. We were quite close to the junction and I figured that if I overtake him there and then, I will not have enough time to get back to that lane. Having no choice, I followed slowly behind. The worst thing was that the traffic light in front of us had been green for a long while and the damn taxi was still taking its own sweet time to get to the junction. When we finally got to the junction, the traffic light was already amber and was about to turn red. The taxi made a dash for it and I followed suit. Suddenly, there were bouts of flashes. I got caught by the freaking camera!!! I was told that the camera flashes are as bright as sunlight. It will light up the entire street. How true it is. It was damn stupid of me to follow the taxi. But sigh…what’s done cannot be undone. The penalty for beating the red light is $200 and 12 demerit points.

I took a cab home after the test. Feeling bored, I ended up chatting with the cab driver. So I was asking him whether he has ever been caught for beating the red light. Haha…he said, “Yes!!”

He was caught by the traffic police for beating the red light and was given the demerit points on the spot. But he went to the police station at Ubi to appeal. It took them 9 months to get back to him but they actually reduced the fine to $150 and the demerit points to 9 points. He said that the most important that I have to do is that admit that I am in the wrong. Then after that, I need to come up with some really pitiful stories to make them feel sorry for me e.g. my mum was sick and I was rushing home to send her to the hospital. Haha…seriously, I am thinking of doing that. But I will have to wait till I receive the letter from the police first. =P

Bangkok!!!

Yeah! I just booked the air tickets to Bangkok yesterday. I am going there with my gf, her sis and her sis's friend. Why Bangkok? Well, this is because my gf and I have never been to Bangkok. Furthermore, we are going for other graduation trips with our own friends too, me to Japan and she to Taiwan. Hence, we decided to take a short honeymoon cum graduation trip together before we embark on separate trips with our friends.

We will be going to Bangkok from 09 May – 15 May, a whopping 7D6N!!!! Damn long right? Haha. Well, we were actually contemplating whether to go for 5D4N or 4D3N. But we booked late, hence the price of the tiger airways tickets for certain days increased. Rather than spend the money on air tickets, we chose to go on days where the price of the air tickets are lower and spend the money that we saved on hotel instead. The air tickets only cost about $138 per person, including taxes and fees. It is dirt cheap. Yup and we are going to stay in Bangkok City Suite, a cheap hotel that is recommended by my friend, which cost about S$20 per person per night.

I have never been to Bangkok before and I am going there for so many days thus, I need to plan a lot of activities. So if you guys know of any fun stuffs to do in Bangkok, do let me know =)

Gender Differences

I was reading my negotiation textbook the other day and came across this interesting section which I think is totally true. Jus wanna share this section with you peeps. For those who are having relationship problems, this might be able to help you.

Women prefer straightforward accommodative solution in conflict of interest problems. They generally seek to compromise and will avoid competition. They tend to be more generous and make greater concessions than do men. HOWEVER, when placed in a vulnerable position, as when they have been exploited, women react with greater retaliation and apparent vindictiveness than do men.

Men tend to use a tit-for-tat strategy more, and tend to be more cooperative in response to a tit-for-tat strategy. Women are more cooperative, if presented with cooperativeness by the other from the beginning, but once crossed, they are less responsive to cooperative gestures. In contrast, when men are presented with a highly cooperative partner from the beginning, they tend to exploit her.

Interesting isn’t it? =)

Effects of Sleep Deprivation

Was surfing around and looking at my friend's blog. I was horrified to find that she often goes without sleep for a few nights in a row. Tsk tsk, young people nowadays do not know how to take care of themselves. Apparently they do not know the harmful effects of sleep deprivation. Haha so I did some research and specially created this post for those nocturnal creatures...gers especially. Yes, I am trying to scare these people!! Hahaha =P

As the pace of life quickens and it becomes harder to balance home and work, many people meet their obligations by getting less sleep. Sleep deprivation is a general lack of the necessary amount of sleep. Sleep deprivation can adversely affect brain function and impairs spatial learning. Animal studies suggest that sleep deprivation increases stress hormones, which may reduce new cell production in adult brains. In the United States sleep deprivation is common with students due to the fact that almost all schools begin early in the morning, forcing students to get less sleep than they normally would. Because of this, their grades go down and their concentration is impaired.

Other effects of sleep deprivation include
Irritability
Blurred vision
Slurred speech
Memory lapses / memory loss
Hallucinations
Feeling deprived of sleep
Hand tremors
Headache
Color blindness
Fainting
Nausea
Psychosis
Clinical depression
Pale skin tone (looking pasty)
Decreased mental activity
Decreased concentration
Decreased ability for the immune system to fight off sickness
Weight gain
Increased blood pressure
Aching muscles
Impatience
Slowed reaction time
Hypertension/Hyperactivity
Dizziness

Scary right?!! For those who wish to lose weight and do not want to look haggard at the age of 30, better sleep more from now on. Girls especially because it is a known fact that girls tend to age faster than guys. =P
